Frequently Asked Questions

  • Counselling can help you gain new perspectives, understand yourself better, and make meaningful changes. People often benefit from speaking with someone impartial, non-judgmental and understanding, who is not part of their family or friends’ group.

  • Counselling is a two-way conversation aimed at making positive changes. It provides a safe space to explore your experiences, develop coping skills, and improve your wellbeing. Clients can explore their thoughts and feelings to solve their problems using their strengths, skills and resources in a safe and supportive space.

Counsellors provide empathetic, non-judgmental guidance, to help clients manage emotions and thoughts effectively with practical tools and strategies.

  • My approach is person-centred, solution-focused, and strengths-based. We'll work together on your goals using tools like conversation, mindfulness techniques, writing, and reflection.

  • In our first session, I’ll get to know you and learn what brings you to counselling and hear about your perspectives and experiences.  From there we can create goals around what we will work on together in our sessions, to ensure we stay focused on the right things for you.

  • Yes. Sessions are private and confidential, except when there is risk of serious harm to you or others, court subpoenas, or when you provide written consent to share information.

  • You don’t need a referral to see me, or a Mental Health Care Plan.

  • Sessions are not Medicare-rebatable. This offers more flexibility and personalised care without needing a referral. My fees are lower or equivalent to the gap fee for most services that offer Medicare rebates.

  • It’s a good idea to read some counsellor’s bios to see who resonates with you. You can contact me for a free 15 minute chat to see if we’d be good to work together. I’d love to hear from you.
