  • Counselling is a form of talk therapy; it’s a two-way conversation between a counsellor and a client to make positive changes in the client’s life. The client can explore their thoughts and feelings to solve their problems using their strengths, skills and resources in a safe and supportive space.

Counselling helps individuals understand their issues, develop coping skills, and address problems constructively. Counsellors provide empathetic, non-judgmental guidance, to help clients manage emotions and thoughts effectively with practical tools and strategies.

  • My approach is person-centred, solution-focused, and strengths-based. We will work on your goals and solutions together and look at where you are now, compared with where you aspire to be. Sessions may involve various methods such as conversation, mindfulness techniques, writing, using therapeutic cards, and completing worksheets.

  • People benefit from speaking with someone impartial, non-judgmental and understanding, and someone who is not part of their family or friends group. Counselling provides a safe space to explore your thoughts and feelings, gain new perspectives, and receive practical tips. It helps clients understand themselves better and make choices that feel right for them.

  • In our first session, I’ll get to know you and learn what brings you to counselling and hear about your perspectives and experiences. From there we can create goals around what we will work on together in our sessions, to ensure we stay focused on the right things for you.

  • The number of counselling sessions you need will depend on your unique challenges and goals, and what you feel you need to effectively resolve them.

  • Yes. Everything that you discuss in your counselling session is private and confidential. There are a few circumstances in which the counsellor will need to break confidentiality:

    • If you are at risk of seriously harming yourself or someone else.

    • If your counselling records have been requested by a court of law.

    • If another party or agency has requested your information and you have agreed and provided your written consent to this.
